Medical Director for Nonprofit Animal Rescue and Community Clinic

Nuzzles & Co Pet Rescue and Adoption, located in Park City, Utah, seeks a medical director to provide strategic and clinical leadership for all veterinary operations at Nuzzles & Co and oversee the health, welfare, and population management of shelter animals while also directing the low-cost Community Clinic and periodic mobile high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) clinics in areas surrounding our primary location. This role requires both hands-on veterinary care and program leadership, including performing high-volume sterilization surgeries, advanced medical procedures, intake exams, diagnostics, and case management.

The medical director develops and enforces medical protocols, biosecurity standards, and population medicine strategies; manages the veterinary budget, pharmacy, and medical facilities; and ensures compliance with OSHA, DEA, and shelter medicine best practices. The position supervises veterinary staff, conducts performance reviews, and collaborates with executive leadership and the Board on organizational strategy.

Additional responsibilities include supporting Trap-Neuter-Return initiatives, providing after-hours medical consultation. Candidates must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, be licensed in Utah (or eligible), possess strong surgical skills, and demonstrate a commitment to animal welfare, shelter medicine, compassionate leadership, and community engagement.
