Executive Board
Jamie Rees

DVM

President

Dr. Rees was raised in Manti, Utah.  She attended Utah State University followed by Colorado State University where she received her DVM in 2000.  She started in equine practice after graduation.  For the past 22 years she has been in general small animal practice in the Salt Lake City area.  She has been a past president of the UVMA, past treasurer and past board member.  She has three sons and a daughter.

Nate Whiting

DVM

President-Elect

Dr. Nate Whiting grew up in the west, spending time in western Colorado, southern Arizona, and coastal Washington before making his way to Cache Valley and Utah State University to begin his undergraduate education. After a brief hiatus from education, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Eastern Washington University and returned to Cache Valley to work in a private research laboratory for almost 10 years before deciding to once again pursue his goal of becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Whiting is a proud graduate of the Utah State/Washington State College of Veterinary Medicine, earning his DVM in 2017. Following graduation Dr. Whiting worked for two years at a rural mixed practice in Cache Valley, then three years at a small animal practice in Box Elder County, before coming to Mountain West Veterinary Specialists in the fall of 2022. He thoroughly enjoys the variety of interesting and difficult cases he encounters working in emergency medicine.

In his spare time Dr. Whiting enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, and four daughters. He also enjoys golf, touring National Parks, wilderness backpacking, working on public policy involving veterinary medicine, working with veterinary students in the Clinical Communications course at Utah State, and coaching high school wrestling.

Susan Benson

DVM

Immediate Past President

Dr Benson is from Northern Utah and has practiced both small and large animal medicine since graduating from Utah State University and Colorado State University. She currently works in an AAHA accredited practice and has a special interest in responsible dog and cat breeding. She also enjoys working with small ruminants.

In addition to her work duties, she regularly teaches in the community to improve animal healthcare, is involved with the USU Veterinary program as a communications coach, and is a guest speaker at AKC clubs to promote healthy breeding practices and responsibilities.

Corinna Esdorn Camfield

DVM

Treasurer

Dr. Corinna Esdorn Camfield grew up in California and New York with dogs, cats and horses. She graduated from Stanford University in 2009 and the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2017.

Dr. Camfield moved to Utah to be closer to family and mountains after veterinary school. She joined the UVMA as a new graduate, and loves being able to give back to the veterinary profession. She currently works in small animal general practice, and when she isn’t working can be found hiking or skiing with her husband or snuggling with her dogs.
